Passionate about Nature
We question our environmental impact and challenge ourselves to improve our sustainability practices at every turn.
We have the market’s widest range of plant-based meals. Firepot’s vegan options emit four times fewer carbon emissions than those containing meat. This is according to data compiled in 2021 by SustainIt, the UK’s leading sustainability data consultancy.
We’ve stuck by our West Country roots, using high quality, fresh ingredients available locally. This has helped reduce our carbon footprint. Our fruit and vegetables are still sourced from the same Dorset greengrocer as when we first launched.
We are committed to total transparency when it comes to these practices too, mindful of the fact we must do better.
Sourcing Ingredients
Unlike our competitors, we use fresh ingredients to make our meals, and source as many of these from local suppliers as possible.
Our hometown is home to a family-run greengrocer that delivers our vegetables three times a week, and the sourdough we use in our Tuscan Stew is made just over the hill.
Because our product is light and compact, it means we can also export our meals efficiently, resulting in lower food miles. We tolerate slow transit times to get our product to the USA with as little an environmental impact as possible.
Packaging Recycling
Every food business has to face the challenge of recycling the vast amount of cardboard that comes with deliveries.
At Firepot we have invested in a compactor which creates 100kg bales from our refuse cardboard. These are stored in our warehouse until we have four tonnes ready to collect.
At these volumes, the fuel used to collect is offset by the benefit of recycling.
Zero Waste
Food waste is one of the biggest contributors to climate change.
All our ingredients are weighted out to the nearest ounce. Our only waste product is vegetable peelings — onions, carrots, kale, cabbage, celery, etc. We pile all these into our compost heap at the end of each day.
Every job comes with hidden perks. At Firepot it's this free compost, used on our founder's vegetable garden.
Customers Who Care
We actively choose to support groups or individuals campaigning to raise awareness of the climate crisis, or performing scientific research in this field.
This includes projects in marine conservation and plastic pollution.

The Export Challenge
As a small island business, we meet a number of challenges when exporting to customers around the world.
As things stand, only our British customers can benefit from our full range of sustainability initiatives: from industry-leading compostable pouches, our pouch recycling scheme, and all 19 of our menu items.
If you are travelling within Europe, it may be that you too can benefit from these. Get in touch to see how we can help.
